US Apache killing footage
22nd January 2004 by Simon
These days it’s not often that I post twice in the same day, but I came across a link to some video footage from an Apache helicopter on snopes.com and thought it couldn’t wait until tomorrow.
The video, which come from US news network ABC, shows people being shot with 30mm automatic cannon fire, apparently in Iraq. After the first victim is shot at and hit, lost in a cloud of explosion, the camera/weapon moves to the left and you can clearly see bits from the first attack landing next to the soon to be second victim, who is dispatched in a similar way.
When the camera tracks to the right to focus on the lorry, you see the third/final person cowering underneath the lorry, clearly fearing for his life. The command is given to “hit him” and 30 shells come streaming out of the gun, causing the lorry to explode. At about 52 seconds into the video, you see the final victim rolling on the floor, writhing in agony. The order is then given to blow up the last vehicle.

Now I’ve watched the recording quite a few times and I can’t really figure out what is going on, or if there the (ex)people are handling weapons, but seeing that or working that out is insignificant. Retired general Jack Keane, an ABCNEWS consultant comes wading in to help everyone understand the situation. Luckily he can read minds, no wait, he can read the minds of dead people, simply by watching some video footage - “Those weapons were obviously not being pointed at them in particular, but they [the three Iraqis] are using those weapons in their minds for lethal means and they [the Apache pilots] have a right to interfere with that,” he said.
When American TV news pays a retired general as a consultant and he not only makes plainly ridiculous assertion like that, but those comments are broadcasted - you have to seriously worry what is happening to that country.
“They are using those weapons in their minds for lethal means” - the thought police have arrived.

I’ve read a lot of analysis of the video, some by military personal who do not believe there are any weapons there at all and have watched it many times myself, and I can’t get away from the feeling that one of those is a woman. The one that runs across the field, gives a little girly skip at whatever that structure is and then exchanges a kiss with the person on the other side?
Horrendous if true.
[Now I look at your site and others, I realise quite how old this story is in blogdays.]
I completely see what you mean - the little skip/trot/flourish as they approach the vehicle - I wondered if it could also be a child. And damn, it does look like it could be a kiss.
Looking at the vehicle that is skipped up to, surely the tube standing up isn’t what is being referred to as the “weapon” is it? It is an clearly an upstanding exhaust on the tractor, appearing white on Infra Red as it’s so hot.
It’s very interesting that due to it being digital media - infinitely re-playable, instant to rewind - that you can study it in minute details, rather than it just running in front of you when watching the news. It’s a significant shift in the detail of media.
I watched it with the sound turned down tonight - it’s very wierd to watch like that, a lot colder, more clinical.
What I don’t understand is, if it isn’t combatant, how or why did the video ever get authorised or released?
I understand what I’ve been is a segment, so I’ve pulled the full length video down tonight and will take a look at it sometime tomorrow - see if that tells a clearer picture.
I understand that the Apache crew had been watcing for 15 minutes while those three wired an improvised explosive device to a guardrail to the left of the truck(looked like a cannon to me).
Nothing worse then someone blatantly misunderstanding something or having zero knowledge yet still thinking they can make a comment on it.
If you want the full video they are seen hiding a surface to air missile tube (reusable) in the field and some ammo. Later the area was checked out and launchers and ammo were found in the vehicle. Iraqi women who fire weapons are still combatants also, though this is not a woman, he is running over a rutted field hence the funny run.
Finally the comments by the general are about the weapons they used earlier and are trafficing with intention to use.. This is the mind attack as you stupidly, ignorantly call it. Many civilian and military lives have been saved by this attack, unsavoury though it may look.
P.S the second guy to be killed, who as you put it has bits of his freind land near him, doesnt seem too eager to run or surrender or hide as a civilian. See how he is in a hurry to unwrap a launcher from the tractor?
Im a guy from Holland and watched the video a few times now and it gives me a real terrifying feeling, but it is as it is its war, when a pilot thinks and it was a weapon the pilot and gunner would have been killed its them or they i quess. War is black and white, and women and children are carrying anti tank weapons, everyone has weapons from 6 to 90. And you cant expect from a pilot in a wartime that he lands his apache and asks for licenses or ages, america and the coalition are at war live with that, i hate war too but we cant turn that back now, and remember 911 and all those other attacks madrid etc the world must stand against terror and islam, they want the hole world to be islam!!!No way!!!
I’ve read a number of commentaries on a few different sites regarding this video. One common observation is the absence of weapons visible in the video. I have little doubt that the shortened version of this video was created as some sort of liberal propaganda tool. However if one is to view the entire video you can clearly see the Iraqi’s with the weapons. Last time I checked Rocket Propelled Grenade Launchers were not a farmers implement.

No. It’s the tooth fairy planting a quarter underneath a pillow…
These pilots sat and observed these insurgents MUCH longer than the video clip you see. Who runs out into the desert to drop something AWAY from a truck? A bad guy who is trying to hide a weapon designed to take down American airplanes, that’s who.
No. it isn’t a girl scout. It’s a MAN who has just hid a large weapon… Come on people, this is war and it’s not pretty… If we had video cameras in WW2 showing Nazi snipers, some people would think they were girls with garden tools I suppose…
