US Air Force ordered out of London - Where’s the unity?
12th July 2005 by Simon
I heard on the news today that the America air force have ordered their UK-based personnel not to go inside the M25. For those of you who do not know London, the M25 is the motorway that circles well outside greater London.
The order was originally issued on Friday last week, a day after the London explosions.
I could understand if an order not to enter London happened on the day of the explosion, but I would expect that it would be lifted the following day. After all, this is when the majority of London was back up and running again.
It’s now Tuesday – and I can’t think of a good excuse for it still being in place, unless it’s overriding self-interest.
This order brings all of George Bush’s rhetoric about standing shoulder to shoulder with the UK into sharper focus as a hollow sham.
