Sideblog could be an interesting idea, but it may be superfluous. It enables bloggers to easily add a simple list of links when they don’t feel like writing a long text entry around them.

It could be that it provides the same function that you can achieve by including a separate blog on your page, as they are highlighting the ease of including it in your blog by just adding one line of HTML.

One Response to “Sideblog - quickly add links to your blog”

You are, of course, right on Simon - Sideblog is just a simple way of including another blog on your page. It really doesn’t do anything more than that. In fact, it’s pretty simple to duplicate the same functionality with Movable Type, as you’ve alluded to.

That said, I was surprised to find that there are quite a few people out there that were looking for exactly this type of functionality, who didn’t want to mess around with their templates.

To be honest, the neatest thing for me is the ‘Sidepop’ function that aggregates the Sideblog posts of all the users. It’s a pretty neat way to find new blogs…

    Cheers,
    Chris
