Satellite broadband

I noticed Guy had written a pieces about Satellite broadband, so felt compelled to write a comment about my experience with it.

About 3 months ago I had a portable DSL satellite in on test (I won’t name it as I’m a generous soul). It was a sexy looking, laptop-sized number.

After a considerable time battling with it, with occasional calls back to the company, I came to the conclusion that they really aren’t ready for prime time. That’s a polite way of me saying It didn’t work.

I’d imagine if you’re sitting in a desert, with _nothing_ between you and the bird, it might function, but in most European setting with pesky foliage around, it appears that you’re a bit stuck.
