"You won't win silver medals at the Olympic Games unless you're the very, very best." - Brendan Foster, BBC1 (source:Colemanballs, Private Eye)

A clever Swede, Eric Bunger, has written a Web app, “Let them sing it for you” that is a great example of the re-use of media.

Simply type in your profound thoughts/statement, it will go away and have a look though its selection of song lyrics, and sing you the results made up from many different song, from different artists. If it doesn’t know any of the words, it will prompt you for a song that will fill in the gap in its knowledge. When you’re pleased with your results, you can mail its URL to a friend - for example. If you come up with any interesting ones, please post them to the comments, I’d love to hear them.

As a sobering thought - If every song or piece of video in the world is totally tied up in DRM, how would this kind of flippant, jokey, non-commercial use media ever come into being?
