I’ve felt for a long time that wireless tablets would be where it’s at for home users, as they’re so adaptable - use when sitting at a table or lounging on the sofa. Sometime back there was some promising announcement of products but no delivery, well finally it appears to be happening. A couple of wireless tablets, one from Sony (Air Board) and the other from Viewsonice (AirPanel 150).

Google has now indexed twenty years of Usenet. Of particular interest is significant postings over the years. First mention of Microsoft, Apple Lisa, ‘Me too’ post, Tim Berners-Lee announcement of the World Wide Web, from an AOL account, etc.

An interesting article about a tie up between VW and HP to have a PDA integrated into the workings of a Golf. Interestingly HP mention a deal they’ve done in Singapore to put Jornadas into taxis. When I was there in June this was being widely discussed, with the general feeling being that the public would prefer lower cab fares rather than the ability to send email from them.

Saw a funny (funny as in sad) headline today ‘Interactive TV harder to use than PC‘ (site may need registration). It say the 1000 sample were asked to rate 19 products in order of difficulty to use. In order of hardness to use, iTV=4th hardest, computer=5th, a digital TV set=6th and VCR=7th. Only flying an aeroplane, using a sewing machine and riding a motorbike were considered by the sample to be more difficult.
Clearly lots of unanswered questions in the piece. I’d love to know if the user had difficulty with the remote or was it the iTV programming. If so, what programmes were used.
I know this is deeply unfashionable to say, but will users actually interactive with TV programs?

I really want one of these. It must be about one of the most powerful hairdryers money can buy. I watched the MPEG, stunned by the lack of action - does it really work?

Interesting to see a site pointing out how to contact the plagiarist.
