.org domains at crsnic not displaying

Currently, if you carry out a lookup on whois.crsnic.net of any registered .org domain, it will bring up the following
whois -h whois.crsnic.net simonperry.org …At this point, it’s not clear where this error has occured*. It could be Public Interest Registry (PIR) who’ve been responsible for the .org domain space since the start 2003 or VeriSign, as they run Crsnic, which was setup to be a central reference point for domains.Whois Server Version 1.3
Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.No match for “SIMONPERRY.ORG”.

14:54 - InterNIC’s whois appears to be working OK (although it does say it’s not authorative), while Crsnic is still not working.

*What’s clear to me now is that no error had occurred on the part of PIR & VeriSign and I’ve softened the title (from … in real trouble to … not displaying) to reflect this.
Since the PIR took over the running of .org, crsnic is now no longer the central point of reference for the “traditional” domains (.org, .com & .net) as it doesn’t show .org info any more. I hear from Bruce Beckwith at PIR that they are working with VeriSign to alter this, in the mean time www.pir.org/whois or whois.pir.org will bring up the authorative .org results.

Well, that kind of sucks… thanks for bringing this to everyone’s attention!
Err, if you read the result of that WHOIS query it explains why there is no match:
“The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .EDU domains and
Registrars.”
As you may know, the transition from VeriSign to PIR for .ORG domains did not specify that the www.internic.net nor whois.crsnic.net sites reflect the change for .ORG domains to now search the PIR database. PIR is working with ICANN and with VeriSign to request that this be changed. As you may also know, since the .ORG transition from VeriSign’s computers to PIR’s computers in late January, you can obtain whois information for any .ORG domain at www.pir.org/whois or at whois.pir.org.

Andy - When put like that, it is stunning that I missed that the .org details aren’t included. On the other hand, there’s so much gumph displayed along with the interesting/relevant domain information that I think I’ve just tuned out from reading it through thoroughly.
Bruce - thanks for the kind turn of phrase. I didn’t actually know either of those things - but you can be sure I’m not going to be forgetting them now. Thanks for taking time out and updating me. Having a central lookup for domains does make sense - best of luck in your quest, as I imagine their not the easiest of organisations to deal with.
if you, like me uses linux (and it does look like you do) you might download a fresh copy of the whois-tool from Marco d’Itri. You can find the url to download from at http://freshmeat.net/. My whois-client tells me that I should check my .org-domains with the whois-server of PIR, and when I do, I get the following (url included to avoid a long post) http://deathstar.netcore.no/~anders/fixers.org.whois.txt - If I want more info, the whoisoutput clearly states that this can at the moment be found at whois.directnic.com, which to me makes sense, since the domain was registered with directnic.com :-)
Now, are we through with this? ;P
