Notes on Singapore public Tech usage
14th July 2004 by Simon
While I was in Singapore in June at Broadcast Asia 2004 and took the metro/train/tube a couple of times. It was a very pleasant experience compared with the London tube as it had air conditioned, large trains.
I took the opportunity to do a bit of people watching, in particular how they were with technology. Here’s the brief summary -
- Not a lot of walkmans/MP3/music players in use
- Very few people speaking on their mobile. Those who were, whispered rather than bellowed into them (The UK norm is the latter)
- Quite a few of the younger-types were using their mobiles, either for texting or playing games. A number of the mobile gamers were girls
- Possibly related posts -
- VW and HP integrate PDA’s
- Cigarette packets with warning photos in Singapore
- Bill Gates’ house
