No Smiling, We’re British - Passport Photo Farce
8th September 2005 by Simon
You really couldn’t make this stuff up.
From Monday, smiling on UK passport photos will become prohibited.
What a total joke.
Applicants will have to keep a straight face (’neutral expression’ in their words) and their mouths closed.
This is totally indicative of the way people’s lives are been controlled to aid our ’security.’
The increasingly restrictive laws that are being passed ‘for our protection’ will, in the years to come, extend the lack of smiling far beyond the moment their passport photos is taken, extending in to their daily lives, as they realise their liberties, that they are currently giving up so easily, are impossible to regain.
The really unfortunate thing about this is that the UK population IS keeping their mouths closed about this gradual erosion - not protesting it.
Further details can be found on the UK passport office Web site.
