Neon Cement Mixer

Neon Cement MixerWe had a contact from a reader of Ventnor Blog to help contact a friend of his that had been written about on the Blog.

I popped over to the enquirers Web site and found a fantastic collection of photos which I’d recommended having a look at. One that really jumped out was the shot here of a Neon cement mixer which looks amazing.

I love the idea behind it - creating an art work from a highly practical work tool.

Digging around on other sites I found out that it’s by David Batchelor as part of his South Bank, Festival Hall Remix installation.

to be honest the cement mixer was better last year when they were actually rebuilding it and they simply added it and some other items into the real building site.

this year it’s more of a “what shall we do? Let’s use the same thing we did last year” IMHO

Thanks for the background on that. It somewhat diminishes the integrity to know that it was just plonked there, rather than it be a working item.
