Is life imitating (video game) art?
4th April 2003 by Simon
Is it me or is life imitating (video game) art? Watching the video of the US special forces rescuing Jessica Lynch makes me think of Splinter Cell on the Xbox. I know that in the early days the US DOD funded an extended version of the 3D vector graphics masterpiece, Battlezone to train soldiers, but this is getting silly.
Watching the shot that starts at about 19″, I wondered if one of the squad had gone ahead to setup the camera on a tripod with an auto rotating head. Only on the second time of watching did I realised it was fixed to the bottom of the helicopter, as can be seen as it lifts off.
