Improved car hands-free system

Using my mobile phone in the car last week got me thinking.

I know some car manufacturers, such as Saab, build support for mobile phones into their cars, but it’s usually just a cradle and the ability to auto-mute the HiFi when a call comes in. The hands-free kits normally place the microphone by the sun visor and a speaker to broadcast the conversation into the car, forcing the other passengers to listen in. The other option is to use an ear piece, which has the disadvantages of loose wires that get in the way and their easy to lose - but has the advantages for privacy.

Surely a better solution is to integrate the mike and earpiece into the safety belt - everyone wears them and they’re in an idea position given the pass close to the ear and mouth.
