"I don't know where this Arctic wind has come from, but it's freezing.." Alan Green, Radio 5 Live (source:Colemanballs, Private Eye)

Will the introduction of ID cards in the UK be another example of the UK government riding roughshod over public opinion?

The BBC reports on a leaked letter where the Home Secretary appears to be acting that way.

It quotes Mr Blunkett as saying “a highly organised minority” would “campaign vocally” against the cards but that he believed the argument that ID cards would inhibit freedom was “wrong.”
This I assume, refers to their governments embarrassment at being caught out distorting the results of its public consultation.

It now appears that that if you voice an opinion with others against what the government wants to force through, it’s irrelevant, particularly if your opinion is heard.

This is yet another item to put in the pile marked “Time to leave the country”.
