ID Cards - Passed again by the Commons. Shame
14th February 2006 by Simon
The Labour MPs have embarrassed themselves by passing the rehashed ID card bill through the Commons.
What swayed them? That the government of the day has to pass/push though another law to make the carrying of ID cards compulsory.
To boot, they also made it compulsory that all new passport registrants are required to go on the ID card register from 2008.
Reminder - This is supposed to be a Labour government. It’s shameful that they were bought that easily. Shocking.
The Lords - please don’t let us down. Kick it out again.
