Google Protect Name: Like In 2003?
15th August 2006 by Simon
Google has written to the Washington Post asking for their name not to be used as a Verb, as in “I Googled him.”
I surprised that this hasn’t happened already. I remember back in 2003 sitting over lunch with some senior people from Google when they were really worried about this happening, way back then. Their concern, the loss of their Trademark.
I suppose they thought, well before their IPO, that they wouldn’t throw their weight around too much. Interesting that they now feel they’re in a position that makes it OK to do it now.
