Golf course/aircraft carrier

What a great photoshopped image - Golf course on an aircraft carrier. Not that I like golf, but it looks like a much better use of the hardware.

I’ve had a couple of queries on this image, including official from an office in Texas who wanted to use it on a retirement card.

Sadly this work wasn’t by my hand, so I’m not in a position to give permission to use it.

It’s possible that by following the link you could have more luck that me in tracing its source.

  5. on 21 Jul 2007 at 2:35 am Tim - A PROUD AMERICAN

I hate the picture and it would be a horrible use of our “hardware!” We have the most powerful military in the history of the World. Aircraft carriers are floating cities and sovereign US “ground” that can float in any international waters and project our power to help with diplomacy and when needed use that power to create as much destruction of the enemy as needed. The air capability on each of our aircraft carriers is greater than the entire air capability of all but three countries in the world…in other words three countries have air forces greater than the air capability on one of our air craft carriers. Golf on an aircraft carrier…go join the navy spend 15 plus years in rising to the rank of captain or admiral then you can go chip, put, or drive a golf ball off a carrier - until then leave our “hardware” alone please!!!

  6. on 21 Jul 2007 at 9:07 pm Simon

Dear Sir, there is a world of difference between being a proud American, and being a nut job.

That aside, thanks for the info about the air power on each of the US aircraft carriers - truly scary.

  7. on 22 Jul 2007 at 11:14 am Bryan Gold

What a cool pic! Hmmm, I don’t believe Bob Hope was ever in the military, but he did a tremendous job spporting our troops. And I believe also that hit a few drives off of US Naval vessels.

Have you conssidered a cruise line? In peace time maybe the Navy could offset the enormous cost off upkeeping the fleet. You could play your fist round of a tournament in the Bahamas and finish up in the Indian Ocean. You may have to revise the rule on water hazard drops though!!

    Hello Simon

I work for a greetings card publishers based in Kent and saw your photo of the golf course / aircraft carrier. I see from past blogs some one had enquired as to its source. I am hoping in the past year you have managed to track this down? I would be very interested in using it.

Just a short message for Tim the proud American.

Another fact you may find interesting…

The amount of money spent by America (Each year!) on Pornography; is equal to the entire sum of third world debt.
In other words, the amount spent on porn in America per year, would be enough to write off the total debt of all third world countries

do we really want a country with these kind of ethics “helping with diplomacy” ?

    just a thought

Porn accentuate disparity of beauty. It’s in a sense the opposite of burga. In consensual society, porn allows pretty girls to out evolve the ugly ones. So ugly bitches hate porn.

Some real sad comments here (albeit quite interesting!) along with the typical comments regarding our aircraft carrier is bigger than yours etc however lets not move away from the fact that it is an interesting image, which someone has thought of, spent time with photoshop, and thus produced a work that I believe is great. Well Done!

what a wonderfull design?very nice i think you may play with the photoshop from the begining there wouldnt be wars among countries the best thing they could think not to build airclaft carriers but they could build more golf course and football ground plus basketball grounds.if they have the friendly match with other country they travell with their ground.

think people need to chill out. Picture looks cool not doing anyone any harm! have a noce day everyone ;-)

  17. on 11 Nov 2007 at 7:59 am Cressyman

    Tim,

Chill out. The photoshopped image makes a few people smile… the incredible desctruction that you so aptly pointed out this “hardware” and it’s contents can provide, doesn’t make anyone smile, what-so-ever. If the US is so proud of the destruction it can cause, why not try and use some of the funds that are put towards this to actually put some smiles on people’s faces, rather that erasing these faces off the face of the earth. A smile is contageous… unfortunately so is hatred, and bad moods.

If we forget what we are smiling about… at least we are still smiling, and we still make other people smile…

If we forget what we are fighting about, the noble cause it may have started with quickly gets replaced with revenge, bitterness, ignorance and in many cases, sheer stupidity.

Tell you what, I’d rather see a photoshopped image, and walk around with a stupid smile on my face because of it, than hear the endless news around the world about death, doom and destruction caused by your “hardware” and walk around in a bad mood, with a permanent frown and hatred because of THAT!

    Cheers…

you people are all pothetic. you guys talk about a usn carrier as a piece of hardware but how many of you can even say you’ve seen one none of the less been one probably none of you except for the navy pilot pat. no offence to yo sir but i think this picture is as stupid as the guy who created it. im in the navy and ive seen a couple of carriers and they are a magnificient piece of technology. the first time i saw one i was so amazed i was kind of scared to even look up at it i was affraid to go aboard. i wasnt do sure haw a structure so great in size could stay afloat but it did and it accomplished many missions so this picture is an insult and who ever said a better use of hardware has insolted the usn and i would like to kick yor ass.

  19. on 12 Nov 2007 at 1:17 pm Andy

Just wondering what the membership fees would be for this golf course?Naturally when the septic tanks(YANKS) have conquered the world there wont be any use for carriers will there other than this.

Has any of you so called Proud Americans ever heard the phrase “I may disagree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death, your right to say it” It simply defines freedom of speech and LIBERTY, two things that American society is based upon and in many cases take for granted, anyone who was “insulted” by the picture is basically saying they are insulted by Liberty and freedom, and therefore are NOT proud Americans.

Don’t get me wrong I have family & friends that live in America and I have nothing against Americans as a whole but there are many individuals that have no idea about the world that their own country attempts to control

Also I’m really confused, what’s this talk of only 3 countries have more air power then one Carrier?

I’m gonna name a few countries that have the Air capability to take on a carrier and still have a chance of winning

Russia, Could Easily Take out a carrier… FACT
China, Could Easily Take out a carrier… FACT
Britain, Could Easily Take out a carrier… FACT
Israel… they could actually win they are using American planes in the like the F15
    Argentina… they could do it.
    Australia… they could also

But Tim probably the most embarrassing of all… the FRENCH could take a carrier out with ease… if the French didn’t run away first… of course

PS. Excellant Photoshop skills, however maybe a putting green would be better, 18 holes ranging from Par 3 - 5 might not be able to fit on the deck. or crazy golf, that would be awesome.

PPS. sorry to everyone else for the rant

While entirely off the point, the image itself is fun. Honestly guys, if you’d rather be tugging 500lb. bombs around a steel deck than practicing your chip shot you’ve got a definite small penis problem going on. The image is a joke - if you’re taking it seriously you don’t get it.

However, what I don’t think anyone here realizes that the golf course in many environments can cause a great deal of damage to the local water infrastructure of an area both due to water maintenance and invasive species. So while the golf course may look greener, a bomb crater doesn’t take thousands of gallons of water a year out of your local aquifer.

    Just a little perspective.

  28. on 27 Nov 2007 at 2:59 pm Keith

Please people, get a life. I am retired from the Navy with over 20 years service and have spent 3 years on an Aircraft Carrier. I think this picture is great.

To all those who are complaining or are insulted about this picture (Tim), please go climb back into the hole you came out of.

  29. on 27 Nov 2007 at 3:04 pm jt

a golf course consumes inane amounts of fertilizer, a product of fuel. An aircraft carrier consumes an inane amount of fuel.

americans are retarded. golf and war? useless.

Any interest in the image is instantly wiped clean with Simon’s little comment about a “better use for hardware”

Simon, perhaps your time is better spent to Photoshop instead of political comments. Good picture, poor comments about the hardware that has defended something as simple as your ability to sit at your computer and Photoshop it.

Then as you whine about fox news in some posts, you don’t seem to have a problem with MSNBC and Keith Olberman? Its partisan people like you that are causing so many problems in the US today.

If you would like help moving to Canada, Simon, I would be more than willing to assist.

Until then, perhaps you should educate yourself a little bit more.

This is the best use of an aircraft carrier I have ever seen. Finally, a beautiful use of our american military scrap metal!

  32. on 19 Dec 2007 at 11:31 pm Mark Smithson

Yes, I agree Tony! Perhaps if we converted ALL of our ships to something this wonderful our planet would be a happier and safer place to live. God Bless.

woah! some of the vitriol posted here over a picture is incredible. Tim- take a chill pill man or buy a better penis pump becuase your current one isn’t working. Come on man grow up and listen to some of the more senior retired/current naval personnel who are proud of thier country for what it stands for and the good it does globally and not for how many countries it can wipe off the planet.

    Sheesh.

  34. on 03 Jan 2008 at 3:15 am mark

The most important question that has failed to be asked is,”If we joined all the carriers together could we get 18 holes out of it”. The water traps would be something to behold.

Thanks for entertaining me and the students with this interesting picture…also thank you to the ‘patriotic idiots’ that seem to think that they are hugely important working as potential cannon fodder. If we are going to discuss the ‘hardware’ and it’s merits, let’s do it on another website. Maybe asshole-depressed-antisocial-penis-envy.com

It just serves to remind me that as an educator the students must work hard and learn how to spell so they don’t run out of choices and have to join the military and end up as an agressive asshole with a personality bi-pass named Tim.

Great Photoshop work. I can appreciate it as I enjoy
making imagination come alive, too. But I think everyone
has glazed over or forgotten the real purpose of that wonderful
piece of ‘hardware’. That piece of ‘hardware’ along with all the other related pieces, help our brave men and women in uniform keep the peace and freedom we enjoy with out fear at home. The Photoshop is a part of that freedom to enjoy our creativity, to make a picture of a golf course in place that wouldn’t ever show up in real life. I am sure that many of our men and women in uniform after a major dangerous mission wished that they could convert that flat top for a day to a golf course for some R/R…. They dearly deserve it…. their work is NOT fun, but is dearly needed for our survival. Ernie

  40. on 08 Feb 2008 at 6:57 pm Mike

Wow, what a bunch of lame comments, I am too shocked and disgusted to write much more than “anybody who thinks this is a cool use of an aircraft carrier is a complete asshat.” But fortunately, It’s thanks to machines like this, and the brave men and women who serve on them, that you have a right to your suck-wad opinions.

    I think this is the coolest;
I work on a golf course,
    And I wonder…
Do they use a walk mower or a riding mower?
    the turn’s would be tricky.
    Remember..it’s only a picture…. people.
So Mr.Tim take your panties out of your butt,

Hi people. Everyone who have left a comment on here are quite strange- even me. Right now, I’m wasting my time, trying to basket all you people up to get a life.

If you can see an image of a aircraft carrier changed into a golf course, good. If you can see an aircraft carrier with skulls and death on it, you’re a bloody retard.

Why are you ALL having your say on what the world dramas on some blog-enabled website on a PICTURE OF AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER! WTF!

I feel like an idiot for even talking to you guys. This is really weird, spending your time talking to randoms. I know I’m being really hypocritical, but you can’t see my act of doing what I would normally do and leave the page, and think you’re all dairo’s. I have to sink to your level to try and bring you up to the surface once more.

Please, let my comment be the last on topics totally irrelevant to this image.

    Happy easter.

    Mitch.

That’s a floating golf course. That’s the first time in my life I have seen a golf course with a heliport in the middle of it on an aircraft carrier. Excellent photo, to say the least.

  48. on 18 May 2008 at 12:52 am Lars

I must say that i do love your pic.
I can se that the ship brings peace and haromny instead of death and destruction. Why not sort out or world problem with a friendly game of golf than a hailstorm of bombs? Why not make the hardware a school for homeless children next time? I know that there is alot off them out there in the world and i think they would like to se a big ship with green grass, water and friendly ppl instead of planes and bombs.
turning it to a school? Kids hate going to school, we all know that, but what are all childrens highest dream?
    PEACE ON EARTH!!!

  49. on 19 May 2008 at 2:26 am Dan

It would be nice…too bad we need ‘em to bomb Iran. Just kiddin’, but Seriously though. War sucks big time I know I’ve been. It’s unfortunate that it takes war to teach a man the importance of diplomacy. It’s also unfortunate that in the world we live in there are entire groups of people that would like nothing more than to see us (america) fall. The idea that everyone lives by the golden rule is a fantasy. just sayin…
    cheers,
    Dan

  50. on 10 Jun 2008 at 6:35 pm Pablo

I can see there are much more Americans who are against war and weapons than those supporting the US capability to conquer the rest of the world. But I wonder, why don’t you go and vote another type of government, if always the same people win it must be due to some kind of general lack of interest in changing our world.
If there is someone with a certain amount of power to produce any changes on earth, those are the Americans.
The picture is excellent. Thanks to it a lot of people could give their opinion. Even me for the first time in my life.
I hope this is not a trap for aliens who should not open their mouth. I love golf.

I think it’s wrong to have a golf course on an aircraft carrier because you could really hurt people landing warplanes on top of them. My uncle Barry was playing golf once on an international airport tarmac. We told him to stop but he would not listen. He was just putting when in came a 767. Poor old uncle Barry was deaf too. The starboard engine on the thing scooped him up and spat him out. Anyways, it shows that you should not play golf when there’s air-o-planes landing.

Ok Guys, you seem to have calmed down a bit. I thought the Navy had an education programme? Clearly not. GW would feel right at home on this one.

I get the feeling that the seaguls would take up residence and the golf would suffer.

    And may gawd bless ermerica

LOL, I think the “patri(di)ot” comments are all made up to entertain us. They are just too funny to be for real.
Just on the small chance they are - what is the schoolyard bully gonna do if being strong and scary is no longer a concept that makes you successful in life? Like, uhm, NOW for instance?:
Three countries with a bigger airforce than a US carrier? Lets not be modest here, we have much better records to build on: Not a single country with a budget deficit bigger than US! Not a single country with a bigger trade deficit than US! Not a single country with a yearly gross domestic budget as big as the 700 Billion necessary to save capitalism from collapsing. Only two countries who kill more people on death row (Iran and China). No other democratic country who operates prisons outside home jurisdiction because the own justice system may not be good enough to deal with potential terrorists…
I’d rather go golfing, if you ask me.

Great picture - that’s what pulled me to this site in the first place :o)
