George Bush Site - No non-US visitors
27th October 2004 by Simon
Want to know how closed George Bush is trying to make America? Well, try to take a little peak at his Web site and if you’re outside the US you might be a little surprised to find you get a Access Denied - You don’t have permission to access “http://www.georgewbush.com/” on this server.
It is accessible from the US, so it appears that Mr Bush’s team have implemented geo-blocking outside the US.
Not what you’d call encouraging on foreign policy.
As a jokey counter to this someone has set up GeorgeWBush.co.uk, which redirects your to … Michael Moores site.
Further information at many other sites.
UPDATE: It doesn’t look like the tech team behind Bush are too bright, as they’ve omitted to block https://georgewbush.com/, the secure version of the site, which has a significantly larger processor load than normal Web traffic.
