egg.com - Not Really An Online Compnay
30th May 2006 by Simon
It’s amazing that for a service like egg.com that prides itself, indeed promotes itself on being an online service, that they don’t hold all of the data going back to when I opening the account. With storage so cheap, I can’t imaging a reason as to why this could be. How can Google hold over 2Gb of email for me, but they can’t hold what must amount to less that 100k?
What’s the point of claiming to be an online service and not holding the data online?
If you want to access your statements older than 12 months, they charge you £2 per statement that you require. The only plausible justification is that it’s a way to generate extra profit.
Is this a long term plan for them, or do they plan to change policy on this? If not, why wouldn’t I move to a company that does offer this?
