Mecca Cola

I’m listening to a piece on Newsnight on UK TV about a drink called Mecca Cole with its styling very similar to Coke - red and swooshy but with a logo “Don’t drink stupid”.

It’s been on sale in France for the last two months and has proved hugely popular with the Muslim community.

People are buying it at as boycott vote and, for the clever marketing idea that 10% goes to Palistinian people.

The company behind it are planning a range including fried chicken, burgers and cigarettes.

I very interesting idea, creating a product that makes you think your doing something to help. It’s like the initial idea of the green sea that was Body shop but on the back of all of the billions spent on advertising by the US giants.

I’d love to know if anyone sees it for sale in London.

    Hello there,

I would like to get more infromation regarding the prodcut for the reason of potiential joint venture or business in Yemen. As we all know Yemen is an excellent target market due to its big population size and its determination to boyacate American products.

I have been asking myself the same question. I tried Mecca Cola at the peace demo and thought it made a very pleasant change state-wise.

Surely it must be possible by now to buy it in London?!

To the person masquerading as George Bush

I’ve thought about what to do about your racist comments and I?ve decided to leave them, for the while at least - clearly not because I agree with them.

    To Ahmed Algharasi

I don’t have any contact or further knowledge of the company that’s doing this product, but I notice the site is now up in English (http://www.mecca-cola.com/en/index.html) and you might be able to get further info there.

I can’t seriously believe that descent human beings could think buying this product helps in some way to relieve the suffering of all the pain of the people and their families killed during the American war with Iraq. If you want to do something useful join the Army and help remove this brutal dictator from power. Thank You.

There are many reasons to boycott Coca-Cola, not the least of which is that they have a business practice of murdering workers in Latin America who try to join unions. Buy Mecca Cola!!!!
I hope it’s available in my area soon. I might start drinking cola!

Well I think that Kashmir is a great market for Mecca cola as people here are determined to bycott all usa/uk/isreal based products. So the future is great and its the ripe time to launch the product in Kashmir. I would love to have the dealership.

Freaking idiots. Drinikin a different brand of cola is going to bring peace about? You have got to be kidding me! You think Coca Cola or Pepsi Cola or Coockoo Cola Inc. cares?! You are just making some other money grubbing, greed mongering, suv driving, developing country raping jerk a rich man.
Stop drinking cola’s. For that matter STOP DRINKING SODA, it’s terrible for you anyway. It’s like, hey, let’s stop smoking american Malboro death sticks (cigarretes), and we’ll smoke Muhamed deaths sticks instead. That will show the imperialist americans. THEY WILL BOTH CAUSE THE SAME DAMAGE! Just stop. Freaking idiots.

Stop this bullshit….no one person can bring about the changes we require in this world…we have to bring small incremental changes…Mecca Cols instead of Coca Cola is good….I would not drink a single coke or Pepsi if Mecca or Zamzam cola is available in Pakistan.
Those of you who want to stop all meance in a few minutes…keep dreaming….

    Freaking Idiots:
Can you hear what you are saying? You hate Bush (who is a freakin idiot) but you are just like him! I am starting my own bussiness in Spain/Bangladesh/Indonesia/Brazil/Pakistan… you are just as freaking greedy as Bush is. This is not about Coca Cola, it’s about you getting rich off of some other poor unsuspecting developing world innocent. YOU are the problem. Not Coca Cola. The Americans taught you well. You wont drink, eat or smoke their poison or traffic in it or profit from it. No, you are better than that you will, you will make your own! You are sad. Freaking idiots.

  19. on 23 Apr 2003 at 12:53 am jahan

to bobbo. i see where your commin from and i totally agree with you on one hand. on the other hand you have to understand that buying non american products can have a huge impact on its economy. more that 70% of products are american and thats one of the reason why America is so powerfull today. even if mecca cola is a money grabbing opportunity (i mean that what all busineses are there for!) this a start to hit america back. is there a better way?

  20. on 28 Apr 2003 at 1:49 pm jamal anwar

    and to help the Palestinians.
I would like to know that when it will come to Pakistan? we all here waiting for it anxiously.

  22. on 14 Jun 2003 at 8:41 pm Jim

Look, good people, America is not the root of all evil in the world. America is nothing more than the result of letting people do what they want, whether it be selling soda, drinking soda, volunteering for the army, going to church, or choosing to submit to Allah. Most problems in the world lie not in the “Big Bad America,” but in people’s lack of education and understanding of other nation’s cultures and their own nation’s social and economic standards. The fact is, soda is one of the leading causes of Type 2 Diabetes (Adult Onset Diabetes) in the world. I am not a Muslim, and I am not a Christian, but I do care about people and their health whether they live in New York, Medina, or Haifa. The people of the world need to start taking care of themselves and their children by not drinking ANY kind of soda whatsoever. I think our Creator would agree.

  23. on 22 Jun 2003 at 8:27 am Adam Reyes

First of all, let me enlighten you about the part that Mecca-Cola is doing to bring peace around. They are contributing 10% of their net profits to the Palestinian children, and a further 10% is given to charity in each country that Mecca-Cola is distributed in, to be served for children as well; and to make sure that the money is not used in a wrong way, the amounts are given in supplies as per the requirements (i.e. food supplies, medical supplies, building of schools, etc.)

I do agree that it is partly to boycott American products, but the objective is to make a difference and help in bringing a smile on the face(s) of suffering children around the world.

Mecca-Cola is not targeted towards Muslims and/or Arabs. It’s an international product with the aim to make a difference. So keep your thoughless remarks aside and think; and as the Mecca-Cola motto says, “Don’t drink stupid, drink with commitment”, commitment to making a difference.

Dear Brother, peace be with you, Congratulations for launching something that challenges the American monopoly, Two years back without Pepsi and coke it was really hard for me to do anything, But since Afghan war I didn?t test a single Drop of these American Drinks, I m a human and It is enough to boycott US Products, I can see the blood of innocent peoples in these Drinks, You don?t need to be a Muslim to feel that, if you have eyes. I don?t use any made in America, except Computer software?s. I don?t use because I know one day my money will become an American or Israeli bullet, and it will kill some weak and unarmed non-American, non-Jew.
So only if you are a human being and Non-American, you should boycott made in USA, but if you are a Moslem, It is your duty to boycott (Only if you have Red Blood in your veins)
I don?t know whether it is good or not but I m putting my URL, please check it to know more About American products http://www.erumindi.cjb.net
PLEASE DON?T MISTAKE US, WE DON?T HATE AMERICANS, BUT THEIR POLICIES

  28. on 10 Dec 2003 at 6:15 pm tha truth

    the truth is
nothing is wrong with making money,be it you do so honestly, and without taking advantage of people. (ala cocacola murdering union leaders.) creating a new company DOES make change- in case you didn’t notice- this world revolves around money. the HAVES vs the HAS NOTS.

  29. on 12 Feb 2004 at 3:21 pm I.M.

Maybe Mecca-Cola wont make a big different but maybe it will…

No matter what…I would like to contribute to the world with a little …

So … sell me Mecca Cola .. because I dont want to drink stupid

Ok, health === haha! who are we kidding … half of the freaking world drink coke (if not more) thus … let us at least drink with commitment..

until we are wise enough to stop drinking things that are bad for our health anywayz…

    PEACE TO THE WORLD …

  30. on 18 Mar 2004 at 12:33 am Zak Ali

Has anyone in Palestine or any local charities actually received any of the “10% of net profit” which Mecca Cola claims it donates?
