Defamer launch & The Office heading for US flop?

Out of the blue arrives another email from Nick Denton announcing the launch of another in the stable that is the growing Gawker Media. He’s launched a gossip blog focusing on LA - the city of dreams & nightmares - called Defamer.
The story that caught my eye was about the US audience reaction to the US version to the endlessly-re-watchable show, The Office. When I heard it was going to the US I really didn’t understand how they would make it to appeal to the US audiences and stay true to ethos of the UK version. It sound like it’s not going well, according to a source “…it was painfully clear that nobody was liking it. The lady next to me said that she found it depressing.” As expected, irony doesn’t go big in the US.
