Curb Your Enthusiasm - TV genius
7th January 2004 by Simon
Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of my favourite TV programs. I find the dry, deadpan delivery hilarious - it’s a mainline to my sense on humour. Clearly Larry David is a genius, his wife, played by Cheryl Hines, is fantastic and his manager, played by Jeff Garlin is brilliant every time he’s on the screen.
I was lucky enough to see it from the first episode when it was shown on BBC3 and immediately took to the constant frustration and conflict experienced in every aspect of his life. Clearly others are fans as it was nominated for ten 10 Emmy’s in 2003.
One of the highlights of my year in 2003 was driving past what my wife assured me was Larry walking through the back streets of Hampstead. Don’t misunderstand me, generally celebrity does not impress me, I just hugely admire his talent.
Sadly the second series ended in the UK a few weeks ago, but I’m encouraged to see that the forth series has just started in the US. The US HBO also has some video clips from the earlier episodes for those who haven’t see it … or for those desperate for a reminder fix.

I’ve belated got into this on the BBC4 repeats.
I tried at the start to like it - Seinfeld is one of my all time favourite series - but the “amateur dramatics improv” put me off.
Now I’ve got past that, I agree: it is a work of genius.
