Here’s an interesting video of some software in action that takes a 2D photo and automatically converts it to a 3D image. Looking at the photos they’ve used, it appears that it works by understanding the structure of objects (eg buildings normally have straight edges with right angles on the corners). Clever stuff.

Argh … I came across this and started watching it. As I realised what it was, I forced myself to continue beyond my natural responses.
It’s pretty extreme, so view it at your peril.
Makes me considerably less likely to have eye surgery.

What I like about this is not necessarily the way he’s done it or the level of humour, but the ideal behind it. Have a watch or skip through and I’ll explain after …
Individuals are taking control of the media and mucking around with them.
Part of that might not necessarily be new - joke […]

If you can do this with a public consumer site, what do you think the people with the keys to the actual satellite can do?
This is what operators of that kit do for fun in their lunch break … but they see live, moving video of course.

I’ve been a fan of his for years, but now Weird Al Yankovic’s hit another high point with White and Nerdy. Brilliant track, lyrics, observation and a decent video.
As ever, it’s based on another track, this time Chamillionaire, Riding dirty.
I think it’s his best since Amish Paradise (which I see others are taking the […]

If you remember, there was great confusion as to why the buildings in the World Trade Centre collapsed, and rather conveniently in the middle of a capital city, in on themselves as well. Many have questioned as to why this also happened to building 7, that wasn’t hit by any plane.
By way of comparison, here’s […]

I’ve kept an off-and-on interest in what happened at Waco 1993 when the ATF raided the Branch Daviadian compound, with the building getting burnt down and scores of people, including children being killed in the process.
At the time it didn’t appear right to be sending in tanks against civilians - a pretty excessive use of […]
