f*cking promo for Channel 4

There’s a series of promo pieces that have been running on the UK Channel 4 for a couple of weeks. People who appear in shows on the channel answering questions knitted together. This morning a BBC friend passed me a link to an unnamed video work, where the question was obviously “What’s your favourite swearword“. […]

Comcast bids for Disney

20 minutes ago, Comcast made it public that they intend to bid for Disney. CNN has a copy of the letter from the Comcast CEO, Brian L. Roberts, writing to Disney CEO, Michael D. Eisner.
The deal is estimated as being worth around US$66Bn, making Comcast the largest the media company in the world.
I think Michael […]

The Office wins 2 Golden Globes

I was stunned to see that TV comedy programme, The Office, has won two Golden Globes - Best TV comedy series and Best TV comedy actor for Ricky Gervais.
My surprise isn’t that it was judged as great (all who have seen it know that), but that it came out on top against shows like Sex […]

Pixar really have a knack of producing excellent, humorous films, and from the trailer, The Incredibles looks like no exception.

Final nail in Kilroy’s coffin

It’s hilarious to see that viewing figures for the BBC TV slot that Robert Kilroy-Silk’s show used to be on are now going up since his show was pulled off air after comments he had made about Arabs in a Sunday “newspaper”.
With information like that, it is no longer a case of whether Mr […]

Curb Your Enthusiasm - TV genius

Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of my favourite TV programs. I find the dry, deadpan delivery hilarious - it’s a mainline to my sense on humour. Clearly Larry David is a genius, his wife, played by Cheryl Hines, is fantastic and his manager, played by Jeff Garlin is brilliant every time he’s on the screen.
I […]

Scary moves in Italy.
A law has been passed in Italy that changes rules of ownership of media. It has many potential benefits for Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. He currently controls 3 of the 7 commercial television stations as well as having power over the rest of the state owned media.
One provision of the bill […]

As I look further into The Block, I alternate between huge sadness and uncontrollable, near maniacal, internal laughter.
So we know the setup so far - it is the most integrated, all encompassing reality show to date. After some digging, I now realised that this was just the beginning.
The wining couple, Amity and Phil have transcended […]

I’m convinced that part of the future of media will be niche TV content. As media becomes digitised and devices such as Intel’s Digital Media Adaptor become more commonly connected to TVs, people will be able to view content in their lounge that was previously trapped on their broadband-connected study PC.
Now the means of […]
