New toy alert - Orange SPV

New toy alert - my Orange SPV (Sound, Pictures, Video) arrived this morning.
It really looks pretty great. It’s height is about 2cm less than a Nokia 6210 and it’s a little bit thicker. The colour display screen is about twice the height of the 6210 and it’s keypad is about the same size as […]

I’ve been thinking for a while that there’s really a gap in the market for well-designed computers with high quality components, especially audio capture/playback. It appears that vpr Matrix have been having similar thoughts, as they commissioned Porsche design to fashion a laptop that they’re calling the 200A5 (reviewed by PC Magazine).
I’ve only seen a […]

Hmmm, Orange have just brought out an interesting phone. MS throw their hat’s in to the next wave of mobile phones that’s coming to a palm near you soon. Can’t see a price yet.

Using my mobile phone in the car last week got me thinking.
I know some car manufacturers, such as Saab, build support for mobile phones into their cars, but it’s usually just a cradle and the ability to auto-mute the HiFi when a call comes in. The hands-free kits normally place the microphone by the sun […]

While researching vinyl controlled mp3 mixing (if that’s not a mouthful) I came across a laser record player. While ignoring the expense and the unbelievable ugliness of the device, which it reminded me of the early Philips laser disk players, I thought it was an interesting idea and it was shocking to see what can […]

Danger update

The totally fantastic looking, sex-on-a-stick, handheld or HipTop, as they’ve christened it, device from UK company Danger has had it’s release date in the US and UK knocked back. It sounds like there’s been a battle-royal between mobile service providers trying to get exclusive rights to the device.
