BoingBoing pointed me to a very interesting photojournalism awards site, the Best of Photojournalism 2004 (some of the photo are pretty distressing, so be warned).
Looking at this amazing atmospheric photo (right) by Mark Zaleski brings a flood of questions into my mind as to how this situation occurred. Clearly he’s not an one shot wonder.
The […]

Flickr - Most impressive

Interesting clash of angles

Originally uploaded by Simon.

As mentioned, I’m testing Flickr as the place to publish and catalog my Internet facing images.
I’m very impressed so far, as they’ve really thought about how an online user/photographer works. An example being this posting, which after uploading the shots […]

Skeleton of a tortoise

For those frustrated Boing Boingers who want to know what the skeleton of a tortoise looks like, after having their interest raised by piece of a Tortoise anatomical model that was on eBay, and finding the auction finished and the photo’s removed. Here’s a photo (hosted by Buzznet) of half a tortoise that I shot […]

It’s a great shame to see that the well know and trusted UK analog photography supplies company, Ilford has gone into adminitration. Particularly well know for their black & white products, I would have thought that this niche would have been one of the only survivable sectors post-digital.

I’m in Singapore currently for Broadcast Asia 2004 and I saw on the local news that they will be stiffening the health warnings on packets of cigarettes.
Currently 20% of the pack is covered with a health warning, but soon it will be 50%. The top half of the pack will have a photo showing the […]

Beyond sick. The photograph was obtained by ABC News, which identified the dead Iraqi as Manadel al-Jamadi.
Harman, 26, is leaning over the corpse which is packed in ice. The man’s mouth is slightly opened and a small patch of blood can be seen on his right temple. His eyes are sealed closed with tape.

According to evidence […]

‘x-ray’s’

There’s a great
collection of x-ray-type images by ‘ecletic’ on Buzznet. He’s based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and tells me he’s planning to add more.
Mild warning - there are a couple of images that will either make you squirm or laugh, depending on your disposition.

Another brilliant shot by Jennannej on Buzznet. It has a real feel of the American painter Edward Hooper about it, in particular his 1942 painting, Nighthawks.

A further strong image from Buzznet, this time from Josh Caffey whose has taken a great photo of what I assume is a building, possibly the new Walt Disney concert hall in LA.
