I saw this at the Santa Ghetto, the ’squatted’ shop on Oxford Street. They’re selling art from independent artists including the omni-present Banksy.

This is one of those picture that you’d have previously found being produced by an industry professional or sitting in an expensive photo library. Great to see people producing such high quality photos manipulations.

Here’s an interesting video of some software in action that takes a 2D photo and automatically converts it to a 3D image. Looking at the photos they’ve used, it appears that it works by understanding the structure of objects (eg buildings normally have straight edges with right angles on the corners). Clever stuff.
