Bargain of the 20th Century?
26th December 2002 by Simon
One of the xmas presents I received was a book about design from my Mum. One of the fact-ettes in it is about the Nike logo.

The original ’swoop’ was designed in 1971 by a University of Oregon design student, Carolyn Davidson for $35! The only brief that Philip Knight, Nike’s founder, gave her was that it should suggest movement. He didn’t particularly like it but was up against a deadline, so was forced to used it. Since then the ’swoop’ has obviously become synonimous with Nike and one of the most recognised logo’s in the World - not bad for $35.
I’ve looked for references to Carolyn but can’t find out what she’s currently up to - has anyone got any updates?
