Banks - How stupid is this?
16th October 2005 by Simon
Move house, therefore need to change address - all pretty easy up to there.
Contact bank. Write in and send a utility bill they say. OK I say, I’ll send a copy. An original they say, for your security they say. No, a copy I say - I don’t trust the post I say. Any other way I say?
You can take it to a branch, they say. There’s not one anywhere nearby I say. Take it to a solicitor to verify the utility bill copy, they say. I’m not paying for that I say.
That’s all of the option they say. Hmmm I say, so there’s no means, acceptable to me for changing my address, I say. Leaving me no option, but to not change my address, I say.
How secure is it to carry on sending mail to my old address, when I’ve told you I’ve moved, I say?
Silence - they don’t say.
…
Ah, try online … guess what? You have to call the phone line.
Kafka reigns.
