Arief could be a Celador Millionaire

Broadcast magazine is reporting that Celador, creator of Who want to be a Millionaire, have lost a court case over the Indonesian version at the High Court.
Arief International, who successfully produced and ran the show 2001-2003, claimed he had an ‘evergreen’ arrangement, ie it would continue to be renewed if he increased the license fee to Celador by 10% a year.
The problems started when Celador took the show away and sold it to a rival indy, Becker leaving Arief without the show, but with the expensive show-specific TV set.

The judge also criticised the testimony of Celador International’s former managing director Ellis Watson – now general manager of Mirror Group Newspapers – who he said he had found “an unsatisfactory and untruthful witness”.
The extent of Celador’s liability to Arief will be decided at a hearing in October, if it cannot be agreed between the parties. It has been suggested that they could be liable for up to $40m (£22m).
Shamesal Enterprises who had lost the rights to the show in Kenya after running it 2001-3 were reported to be contacting Arief lawyers.
