"In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make." - Paris Hilton (source:Colemanballs, Private Eye)

Disturbing news. Originally this was an FT story, but it’s being reported here in a youth focused Korea publication.

Beijings Horizon Research Group surveyed Chinese people under 35. The result
was that 93% of the respondents answered they ‘hate’ Japan. In particular, 80% of them said they ‘really hate’ Japan. The result shows an extreme anti-Japanese sentiment among Chinese youth and adults. The major reason for this is that China was once under Japanese rule.

The other piece of news that passed me by was that
Last year, the Japanese Government planned to develop a bullet train to link Beijing and Shanghai. But 80,000 Chinese netizens protested online and nullified the plan.

Protesting on line againt the Bullet Train risks being elactrocuted or mown down by tons of fast machinery. Best avoided.

“The major reason for this is that China was once under Japanese rule.”

This is not really true. The Dongbei region was directly under Japanese rule. Parts of the east were under Japanese control (although less so in the countryside than in the cities). However, there was continuous conflict and warfare, rather than an actual Japanese rule. It would be like saying that “Russia was once under German rule”. Sure, Germany occupied a portion of western Russia, but it never conquered the country - just as Japan never succeeded in conquering China. In fact, the Chinese government continued to resist Japanese aggression from the provisional capital of Chongqing for the duration of the Second Sino-Japanese War (aka “War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression”).

@schmerzmaschine - Your type of knowledgeable, insightful comment is one of the reasons that I love the Internet - in particular the two way Internet.

(without hoping to sound too cheesy) Thanks for taking time to share your knowledge.

I am a Chinese, I won’t say I hate Japan. But I will say I don’t like Japan at all and the reason is that they killed millions of people but even today they are trying to cover all the truth and never give their apology or compensation to those victims during the war (most of the victims are living with poor condition in China now)

The relationship between China and Japan is very complicated. But I believe if they don’t give their apology and admit what they did in Nanjing…

    We won’t have any friendship.

And if Japan intends to invade us again… Maybe the islands of Japan won’t be found anymore on the map.(Just kidding)

Stop the hate.. someone needs to take their finger off the trigger. What japan did was wrong, and they SHOULD say sorry. But you cant hate all the Japanese people, some of them had no say in what happened.. “be a man, do the right thing” and stop the hate. -)PeAcE(-

Haha.. Vietnamese… Hate Chinese? Vietnamese always suffer from inferior complex. Look at them, What have vietnamese contribute to the human? They got nothing but shit. nah.. i dont blame them, we rule their sinking country for 1000 years, so cant blame them for hating us. But who care about Vietnam? A shithole. Who care? They will never posses a threat to Chinese so who care about them. Like them waste their time and hate.

OK … this thread has reached its end. I’m not interested in providing the location for people to spew hate. Thread closed.
